Faucet Installation

GR8 Faucet Script: Manage GeoLite Databases

Get a MaxMind license key, update the local ASN and Country files and inspect a lookup result.

These instructions apply to GR8 Faucet Script 70.1.73. The controls described are in your own installation; this public guide does not grant administrator access.

System → Dev Tools → GeoLite Databases manages local GeoLite2-ASN and GeoLite2-Country files. These files support IP lookups; they are not a CAPTCHA or a guarantee that a visitor is not using a proxy.

Open MaxMind License Keys

  1. Use the intended project owner’s MaxMind account, or create an account through MaxMind’s GeoLite setup page.

  2. Generate a license key for this installation’s database downloads. Return to GeoLite Databases and paste it into License Key. Do not put it in Help articles or screenshots.

  3. Choose Save License or Update License. Saving the key alone does not download either database.

Update And Inspect

  1. Choose Update Databases and read its result. If the remote editions match readable local files, the updater may report that no download is needed.

  2. Check Database Files for both editions, their sizes and modification times. Repeated downloads do not diagnose a bad license or a network failure.

  3. Enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address in Test IP Address and choose Verify MMDB. Read the returned fields; missing fields can be a data limitation. Country may also come from a trusted hosting request header, so one displayed country is not proof that both files are correct.

MaxMind’s official setup and license-key guidance were checked on October 6, 2026. Geolocation is approximate; do not treat it as a person’s address. Follow the provider’s current license and update requirements.
